I have typed and deleted this post so many times, I am not sure if I should say anything at all.

Death is one of those things no one likes to hear about. I seem to be a person who hears about tragedy either on the phone or over Instant Messenger. You would think I would steer clear of both.

Yesterday a close family friend died while trying to push his car off the road. He tried jumping out of the car while it was still rolling so that they could keep some of the momentum, and caught his foot somehow. When he fell, he hit his head pretty bad on the pavement and suffered a sever brain trauma. His mother decided that, rather have a son in a vegitative state, to turn off life support and donate his organs. I know this must have been hard on his Mom, but as she was a nurse, I doubt there was any hesitation in her decision.

While Greg was a couple years younger than me, he was the sort of guy whom everyone knew. He kept himself involved in choirs and drama ever since I can remember. He also worked at the local grocery store for as long. Living in a small town, it is pretty easy for everyone to know everyone, and I am sure he will be missed by all.

I have no doubt that he is in a better place. I don't recall him ever having a negative thing to say about others. He was a goof, and all around happy person. While I know we will be sad, I take comfort in the knowlege that he was better than this world.

I am grateful for my grief, for I think, the real tragedy would be in not knowing him at all.

There are few people in this world that hold true to the "old" ways for a guy to behave. They open doors for women, they stand when a women enters or leaves a room. They say excuse me when they have to touch you, they are tender, and kind without losing their masculinity. They are talented, educated, religious and devoted to their loved ones and faith. They are missionaries of virtue and service. There are so few of these men left in the world, and we are now short one more...Rest in Peace Greg, you will be remembered as a true gentlemen and man of strength and you will always be loved. I am so sorry that you had to go, and in such an unexpected moment. You are a good man, a true friend. God must really need you home. God bless and rest well my friend.

In memory of Greg Wells...

I find it very interesting now, that I've read this post again - my friend that I just lost 9-4, her birthday is 8-27, the day you wrote this post about your loss. AND, the weekend of my friend's b-day, the Spirit was telling me to call her, to wish her Happy B-day, and I didn't. I'm full of regrets now.
