DVD players and free wireless access

I feel so blessed at this time of year to be sending this message out from a Marriot Courtyard Inn in Abilene, Texas. Day two of our trek to Houston is at its end and so are my whits.

It's not that I don't love my family, but the car is too small, the volume on the DVD player doesnt go high enough, and the beds at night are just too smooshy.

All in all, though, I am excited to see my family all together. Before we left, we got some potentially bad news. Neal's youngest baby (11 months old) has had an ear infection this past week, and her home health care nurse said she is showing signs of being deaf. She hasn't been tested officially yet, and won't until after the first of the month, but in retrospect, we've all realized that this beautiful little girl hasn't yet made any noise. Aside from crying, she makes no sound. She doesn't startle either.

Needless to say, we are all trying not get ahead of ourselves before there can be an official word from doctors, and hopefully this trip is just the thing to do that.
